One of our newest trails is Federer’s Folly in Carondelet Park, located in the Holly Hills neighborhood in south St. Louis City. The park was dedicated on July 4, 1876 and is a grand old city park rich with history. William Federer was the founder of Holly Hills and his mansion is in sight of the trail that bears his name. Carondelet Park is conveniently located at Highway 55 and Loughborough. As the city’s 3rd largest park, the grounds include a beautiful boathouse, a fantastic rec-center and pool, paved walking paths, ponds, tennis/pickleball courts, ball fields, horseshoe pits, playgrounds and more. It is the first and only mountain bike trail in the city of St. Louis. About a mile in length, the trail is fast and flowy. It is great for riders of all skill levels and families. Trail access is very convenient and the trail is also the new home to the NICA South City Otters composite mountain bike team. Carondelet park is also home to the longstanding Big Shark criterium races on Tuesday nights and the hope is to bring more mountain biking trails to the park.
