204 Butts Road
Steelville, MO 65565
Race Details
DATE: September 24th-25th, 2016
The Ozark Trail Association presents the 2016 OT100MTB race and the OT50MTB race for its 2nd year. The net proceeds from the races support the Ozark Trail Association, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The OTA maintains over 390 miles of backcountry trail (single track) in Missouri, including The Ozark Trail and other connected spurs and loops.
The “OT100MTB” is a point-to-point 100 mile endurance cross-country mountain bike race. This race is 98.5 miles of remote backcountry single track and 1.5 miles of gravel or pavement connectors. This mountain bike race will be very difficult and extremely strenuous. Please ensure that you have properly trained to attempt this event. Do not over estimate your ability. This is remote single track. Also for you geology and geography nerds, the Ozarks are a dissected plateau. This means there are a lot of up and downs in 100 miles. There is more than 11,000 feet of climbing on the OT-100 couse. There are no services along this route other than the listed checkpoints. You should be fully self-sufficient. Cell phone reception is very limited. Be prepared. Yes, you will be allowed drop bags at 4 major checkpoints, once again we will provide tagged bags. We will also provide start point bag. We will do our best to return all bags back finish point at Bass River Resort if you keep the tag attached to the bag.
Last years top racer set a new course record of 9:48:22. The average finish time was just over 15 hours. Awards Sunday at Noon with BBQ and Beer!
The "OT50MTB" is a point-to-point 50 mile endurance cross-country mountiain bike race. This is the second year for the race for those not quite ready to tackle the 100 mile version. Consider this your trial size and get a taste of some of the finest cross-country single track in the USA. Less than 1/2 mile of dirt/gravel road, the rest is manicured Ozark Trail singletrack. This race will start near the half way point of the OT100MTB course (details to follow) and finish at Bass River Resort. Awards Saturday Evening with BBQ, Beer, and Bonfire! 1 Drop Bag at Berryman Campground - CP3 (Race mile 31) Water stops on course. Transfers from the OT-100 to the OT-50 will be allowed through the close of online registration.
There will be no refunds of registration fees for any reason. We will only allow transfer of registrations until the close of online registration on 9/21/16. We need time to finalize rosters. Please contact [email protected] to make a transfer.
We will provide a bike shuttle option again for 2016, final details will be provided as they become available. Pre-race Check-in at Bass River Resort, Friday evening September 23, 2016.
