Trail Build - Chubb - 11-23-19
Allen Road
Eureka, MO 63025
Date: Saturday, November 23, 2019 - 9am - 1pm
Location: Chubb Trail (West Tyson)
What:
1.Scree Slope Trail up to Picnic Table
Details: Due to the loss of critical edge this trail needs to be widened. Bench cut further into the hillside along the topside of the trail. Pull loose material across the tread to the critical edge.
2. Steps
Details: Without “dumbing down” the steps, create safe, roll-able option to the left in the downhill direction of travel. Possibly fill gap that tends to catchy rims and tires and throw riders off line. Allow steps to be used for safe progression.
3. Double Jump
Details: After being ridden and weathered over several weeks the lip and landing have begun to settle like any new feature will. Repair crumbling edges with rock retaining walls and additional soil. Increase the size of the case-pad. Fill in and remove ruts on lip and landing.
4. Hip Drop
Details: Like the Double Jump above, the Hip Drop has begun to settle. Repair and reinforce crumbling edges. Improve drainage. Stretch goal will be to add a banked landing pad. Build a large elevated landing pad without making it into a true “double”. The landing will be banked to the left in the direction of travel to help guide riders who take off in a slightly wrong trajectory. Improves safety for progression.
Where: Meet up at the West Tyson trailhead (middle) along the railroad tracks on Allen Road at 7:30 a.m. We will truck in pretty close to the work site. Knock it out and get outta there.
Bring: Work boots, water and bug spray!
No lunch provided, this will be down and dirty just to get the trail open. We will do some design work this fall to find a better solution to the ever increasing frequency of the 500 year flood.
