To all,
Myself and a few others have been discussing making improvements to the trails in Spanish Lake.
The first step is to establish a trail steward. Which I think we have someone willing. The second is to submit a plan for approval to the County. That leads me to my question.
What will the County be looking for in the plan?
How should the plan be submitted?(in person, via e-mail, appointment...)
Are there any other questions I may not have thought of?
Any help would be appreciated.

Chris

Out of curiosity, did anything ever happen with this?

I believe Chris (cwright) is now the trail steward and he is going to try and contact the County about the trails this week.

Let's kick it. I'll say "Kick it," and you'll just kick it with a tasty groove, ok?

I'm currently working on it.
The first thing I want to accomplish is a re-route around the swamp and clean up the garbage throughout. (I found some places people have used as dump sites).
I also want to get it mapped to make it easier to navigate.

Yes, the swamp area definitely needs a little re-route since it floods and more single track needs to be added to eliminate the gravel roads if possible. There is plenty of room for growth.

Since the current trails kind of run all over the place, an official GORC map would surely be a welcome addition along with some signs in the places that might be a bit confusing unless you know where to go.

Let's kick it. I'll say "Kick it," and you'll just kick it with a tasty groove, ok?

This trail was mentioned in a Q&A thread and it seems a shame that an area with potential isn't being utilized so I'm bumping this thread in hopes that some work and a map might be planned for this place in 2011.

I will most likely be over there every night this week. I plan on just raking trails and looping limbs and just cleaning up the existing trail. I have most of the garbage picked up unless someone has dumped more. Anybody that wants to help out let me know by email randybiology@yahoo.com or you can call or text at 314-223-1444. I will get there about 6pm but maybe earlier. I drive a white ford f-250SD and I will park by the soccer field.
